It’s been over a decade since the release of the first Paranormal Activity. The supernatural film borrowed from The Blair Witch Project found footage sub-genre aesthetic to make viewers skin crawl and stomachs drop. With just a modest $15,000 budget the film managed to earn over $193 million at the box office.
This week, Paranormal Activity film director Oren Peli lifted the curtain on how is crew prepped for the horror flick – including how they cast their two leads. In a video uploaded to YouTube, Peli shares footage from the Paranormal Activity audition process. More than a thousand people responded to films casting call, but ultimately it was Katie Featherstone and Micah Sloat’s performances that one the director over.
