Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Postponed In Malaysia

Josh Gad and Luke Evans in ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Disney has postponed Beaty and the Beast‘s theatrical release in Malaysia. Upon reviewing Disney’s latest film, Malaysia’s censorship board had asked the studio to remove the gay scene.

The “gay moment” was Le Fou (Josh Gad), Gaston’s sidekick, dancing with another man. The director agreed to cut the scene, but Disney pulled out the film for an internal review. The Malaysian censorship board Abdul Halim, was unclear about the situation.

Malaysia wasn’t the first foreign country that had problems with the film because of the “gay moment”. Russia agreed to screen the film but changed movie’s rating to an ‘R’.
