HBO Renews ‘High Maintenance’ for Second Season

HBO has ordered a second season of its new comedy series High Maintenance. The show debuted the first of sixth episodes on September 16th garnering high praise and ratings, with 2 million viewers having already tuned in on HBO’s streaming platforms – HBO Go, HBO Now and HBO on Demand.

The weed-centric show created and produced by husband-and-wife team Ben Sinclair and Katja Blichfeld began as a web series on Vimeo before being picked up by the network. Each half-hour episode follows weed deliveryman, known simply as “The Guy” (Ben Sinclair) and his encounters with neurotic clients throughout New York. High Maintenance is not the only show on the premium cable network that got its start as a web series. Issa Rae’s Insecure, which premiered the show’s first episode online on September 23rd, is partially based on Rae’s web series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl.
