Nate Parker is Awarded with Sundance Vanguard Leadership Award

Breakout film director, Nate Parker, was awarded Sundance Institute’s Vanguard Leadership Award on Thursday night at Sundance’s “NIGHT BEFORE NEXT” event. On the same day, Parker announced a fellowship for 18-to-24-year-old filmmakers in the Sundance Ignite Program.

Fox Searchlight Pictures acquired Parker’s Birth of a Nation for $17.5 million from Sundance festival. The film centers on the historical figure Nat Turner, who played a pivotal role in slave rebellions. Birth of a Nation will be released October 7.
