According to Reed Hastings, Netflix’s co-founder and CEO, the streaming giant has spent over one billion dollars on European film and TV productions.
During a press event in Berlin, Hastings said that this investment since 2012 includes more than 90 original productions in various stages of development, including films, documentaries, and TV shows. Hastings explained that European content is being watched by 93 million subscribers around the world, adding that more than two-thirds of viewing of European content comes from outside of Europe. He also mentioned that Netflix will be improving video quality supporting Dolby Digital, 4k, HDR, etc.
Netflix also released a teaser trailer for their first German original series Dark, which will be released winter 2017.
