President Trump intends to slash federal funds for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting–a major funder of PBS– and the National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities.

In response, PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger released a statement about the cuts:

“The cost of public broadcasting is small…  only $1.35 per citizen per year, and the benefits are tangible: increasing school readiness for kids 2-8, support for teachers and homeschoolers, lifelong learning, public safety communications and civil discourse.”

Congress has yet to approve the budget cuts, and if passed, the public broadcasting station will lose around $450 million in federal funding.
